Vic: Poor design caused Arthur's seat chairlift collapse=2

Arthur's Seat Chairlift was built in 1959 and opened in December 1960.

The chairlift run is 950 metres long and rises 225 vertical metres from the ground,carrying up to 80 double chairs.

After the accident, Mr Hudson said it could mean the end of its life as a tourist attraction.

"We are definitely closed for six months - and perhaps forever," he said.
