Cyclones pile on points in late surge

Sacred Heart-Griffin scored 20 points in a span of 2:28 in thefourth quarter en route to a 40-15 victory over Montini on Saturdayin Lombard.

The Cyclones were nursing a five-point lead before they connectedon an 87-yard touchdown pass and two defensive scores.

The game started off in the Broncos' favor when Johnny Borsellinoran the opening kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown. The two-pointconversion was run in by Dex Jones (14 carries, 74 yards).

The Cyclones then scored three times to take a 20-8 lead. With10:03 left in the game, Montini quarterback Pete Capetta (9-for-16,131 yards) scored from one yard out to cap an 11-play, 62-yard driveand cut the deficit to 20-15.

Steve Weidacher led Montini with five catches for 83 yards. Seniorlinebacker Brad Blackwell had two interceptions for Montini.
