Return to glory

For years, Tony Maurer has been playing golf at Foster Park Golf Course two to three times a week. Undeterred by inclement weather, Maurer makes every effort to diligently make his rounds on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. When he arrived at Foster Park one morning in July 2003, it was clear that the weather wasn't going to cooperate. Yet Maurer and his friends pressed on. As the game progressed, the weather became more ominous. The group, however, was more focused on the game than on the black clouds looming above them.

"There's a bad electrical storm coming," someone shouted across the green. "You guys better come in!"
