Fed: Aussies warned to stay out of four Thai provinces
Australians have been warned to defer non-essential travel to three southern Thai provinces
where security forces have come under attack from Islamic militants.
Thai troops and police this week shot dead 108 gun and machete-wielding Islamic militants
after coming under attack in a series of dawn raids in southern Thailand.
The Department of Foreign Affairs has advised Australians to defer non-essential travel
to the provinces of Yala, Pattani, Narathiwat and Songkhla.
Australians are also advised to defer non-essential overland travel to and from the
Malaysian border through the three provinces.
Eds: reissuing and correcting to four provinces in lead.
