Ukraine's National Bank has imposed new restrictions aimed at boosting the national banking system amid the global financial crisis, Russian and Ukrainian news media reported Monday.
Regulators have prohibited withdrawals from bank deposits ahead of a due date set by individual contracts and have imposed limits on loaning money, the Interfax news agency and newspaper Kommersant said.
Officials at the National Bank refused to comment on the reports.
