NSW: Emergency services clean up continues

The main clean-up from Sydney's freak $1 billion hailstorm is expected to take another 10
days.

Rural Fire Service commissioner PHIL KOPERBERG says there are still nearly 2,000
single-storey buildings and 2,400 multi-storey buildings in need of emergency repairs.

Mr KOPERBERG says relief efforts will be boosted over the weekend, with a further 1,000
emergency workers, bringing the total number to 3,000.

As 2,000 workers continue to make emergency repairs today, he says emergency services have
been bombarded with calls from people in need of minor repairs, hampering relief efforts.

The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast rain over the next few days, which could further
hamper the relief effort.
