Qld: Rain allows slight delay in tightening of restrictions

Rain across Queensland's south-east over the weekend and today .. will delay the introduction
of level six water restrictions by a week or two.

An average of 35 millimetres has fallen over the region's Wivenhoe .. Somerset and
North Pine Dams since Saturday .. the best August falls since 2002 when 60mm fell across
the region.

The storages are now sitting at 16.74 per cent of capacity .. up 0.01 per cent since
the rain began falling .. the equivalent of three to four days of water consumption in
the region.

Queensland Water Commission spokesman GERALD TOOTH says it's now almost certain level
six will be introduced in early October .. rather than late September.
